Liza is a Wilmington native and has always enjoyed an active coastal lifestyle. Surfing, cycling, and dance have been a part of her upbringing since she was a young girl. A competitive dancer in her youth, Liza found her way back to dance as a Zumba, Hip Hop, and Ballet instructor for the last four years, in addition to being an elementary school teacher in New Hanover County. She has an undergraduate degree from UNC-Wilmington in Environmental Science and Biology, and a Master’s in Elementary Education. She graduated with Pilates Reformer, TRX, Barre, and Trigger Point certifications through Club Pilates in 2017. The first time she’d tried a Pilates Reformer class with friends, she immediately felt the difference in her posture and core strength. She was hooked! It was leaps and bounds above any exercise class she’d ever experienced. Liza is passionate about sharing her love for Pilates and wellness with her Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach community. Her goal is to teach others the importance of daily exercise as well as the satisfaction that comes from carving out a small piece of time in the midst of a busy life!
Noelle Demetrious is a Wilmington, NC native. She has been involved in health and fitness her entire life through dance, gymnastics, and cheer-leading. Noelle grew up in a Chiropractic household, the foundation to her holistic lifestyle. She learned at a very early age the importance of movement, flexibility, and spinal health. After obtaining her high school diploma, Noelle felt empowered to share her passion for health and wellness with others. After being introduced to Pilates in 2014 she found the new technique of maintaining physical and mental fitness aligned with her holistic understanding of the body. Noelle became a certified trainer in Power Pilates through StudoVibe in Cary, NC, as well as a 200 RYT Kunga Yoga instructor through the Wilmington Yoga Center. Strengthening the core aids in strengthening the spine. According to the founder of Pilates, Joseph Pilates once said, "A man is as old as his spine is flexible." Building a strong powerhouse leads to a healthy life on and off your Reformer. Noelle is excited to start her journey with Club Pilates to help the community to take their practice and healthy lifestyle to the next level.
Exercise has always been important in Heather’s life. In 2001 she was diagnosed with Leukemia. Complications led to her being given less than 2% chance of survival. Two relapses later she was given an experimental bone marrow transplant and have been cancer free since 2005. After moving to Wilmington, Heather continued running marathons and became a mentor/coach for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training. Her singular motivation for conditioning was always displaced by her instinct to assist others in completing their goals. Over 15 marathons she never considered her finishing time as important as helping someone get to the finish line. Heather discovered Pilates 12 years ago as a stretching and cross training benefit to her marathon training. The pains she was experiencing in my knees, hips and lower back faded quickly after a few sessions. Heather joined Club Pilates in 2018 and almost immediately signed up for the teacher training program. When Heather isn’t studying and creating your Pilates classes, she enjoys taking a Pilates class “The reformer is my happy place”. Heather enjoys healthy cooking and spending time with her husband and Kona their labradoodle. “I look forward to helping others reach their personal finish lines!!”
The most important thing I learned in my first career as a Registered Nurse was the vital role that exercise has in achieving and maintaining good health. That has always motivated me to be proactive about my fitness, and finding Pilates felt like finding the missing piece of a puzzle; the unique blend of strength, flexibility and coordination training has helped me be much stronger and healthier in all aspects of my life. I was inspired to become an instructor because I saw how much Pilates was also helping my classmates, all of whom had different backgrounds and different needs. It was clear to me that Pilates was good for anyone and everyone, and I wanted to be a part of it. After attending a variety of classes, I pursued mat training and became certified by In Balance Pilates Studio to instruct mat Pilates in 2013. I continued practicing and learning and became certified as instructor for the work and equipment of Joseph Pilates including the reformer and apparatus in 2018. I'm so excited to be a member of the Club Pilates team!
When Anne discovered a Pilates mat class 10 years ago she immediately fell in love with the focus, precision and control it required. “I felt like my best self when I was committed to Pilates and loved that I could become stronger and more toned without pain.” Anne is a two-time breast cancer survivor and found Pilates not only helped regain her strength, but also helped regain her confidence after chemo and surgery. “After my last surgery I was terrified to do any physical exercise, but with encouragement from my friend Mindy Agnoff I came to a reformer class and left a new person. It was amazing to regain control of my body and to feel the strength and flexibility I had lost.” This inspired Anne to pursue her teaching certification and empower others in regaining their own mind-body connection. “I want others to feel inspired to find their strength and confidence in each class.” Anne is certified in Pilates Reformer, TRX, Barre, and Trigger Point through Club Pilates. She is also a social worker connecting people with disabilities to one-on-one services in the community.

Cortney is a full time mom, caregiver and advocate to her beautiful special needs daughter Hannah, who is a vibrant and joyful 17 year old. She understands the importance of taking care of herself and “filling her cup” in order to give herself fully to others. Exercise has helped her to fight depression and stay focused on the important aspects of her life. With the encouragement from her twin sister Karen (also an instructor with Club Pilates!) she ventured into the fitness industry. She has worked in the industry for over 11 years; personal training and teaching a wide variety of group fitness classes. Through the years she’s discovered the importance of exercise and clean nutrition working hand in hand. You can look healthy on the outside but true health starts on the inside. She fell in love with Pilates when Karen started teaching. She found that it was very rehabilitative to some of her injuries from long distance running and was an overall functional exercise that created flexibility, length and control. That started her journey into teaching Pilates. She has seen so many bodies and minds completely transformed through the the Pilates Method and that has driven her passion to helping others achieve their goals. Cortney is certified through NASM for personal training, Mat Pilates and Barre through Balancepoint Pilates, Reformer Pilates through NAFC and holds many other group exercise certifications including TRX, Les Mills Body Pump, RPM and Keiser Indoor Cycling. Her favorite quote from Joseph Pilates is “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you see the difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body” She has seen this so many times in her years of training and teaching. She is excited about joining the Club Pilates team, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her!
